Airport Safegarding
We provide comprehensive Airport Safeguarding services to ensure that all existing structures and proposed developments within and around the airport environment remain fully compatible with safe air operations. Instrument Flight Procedures (IFPs), Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS), and other critical aeronautical surfaces can be affected by new construction projects, temporary works, or changes in the obstacle environment. Our safeguarding assessments ensure that no development compromises the integrity, safety, or performance of airport operations.
Our work includes the detailed evaluation of existing obstacles, newly identified structures, and proposed developments such as cranes, buildings, wind turbines, telecom towers, and other vertical structures. Using advanced aeronautical analysis and geospatial modelling, we assess their impact on airspace, aerodrome surfaces, and instrument flight procedures, ensuring continued compliance with applicable international and national requirements.
We support airport authorities, ANSPs, developers, and municipal planning bodies by providing:
-
Assessment of the impact of current and planned obstacles on IFPs, OLS, and protected airspace;
-
Aeronautical safeguarding advice during planning and approval stages;
-
Identification of non-compliances or safety concerns;
-
Development of mitigation strategies, including height restrictions, operational constraints, or design adaptations;
-
Clear, user-focused reporting to support regulatory submissions and planning decisions.
Our safeguarding studies are structured, rigorous, and designed to ensure that airport development can progress without compromising the safety, efficiency, or reliability of flight operations.
